Alliance Extends At-Home Learning Opportunities to Northeast NC Cable Customers
In its continued response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the need to expedite vital information to North Carolinians, UNC-TV Public Media North Carolina announced today that Mediacom Communications, the nation's fifth largest cable operator, is now carrying UNC-TV's three subchannels—Rootle 24/7 PBS KIDS Channel, the Explorer Channel and North Carolina Channel—to extend and enhance the public television network's educational reach throughout the state during this unprecedented time.
UNC-TV's North Carolina Channel and its Rootle 24/7 PBS KIDS Channel provide curriculum-vetted programs to supplement schools' at-home learning opportunities. Besides Rootle's regular award-winning children's programs, the flagship UNC-TV PBS & More channel also provides programs for younger children through third grade. In addition, the North Carolina Channel offers at-home learning programs for students in grades fourth through eight in the mornings and nine through twelve during afternoons. More information about this programming is available at unctv.org/ahl.
While the network’s UNC-TV PBS & More channel remains on Mediacom channel 2, its subchannels, which Mediacom started carrying on April 30, are:
· Rootle 24/7 PBS KIDS Channel—117
· Explorer Channel—118
· North Carolina Channel—119
UNC-TV is in talks with other cable and satellite providers to deliver these educational resources to their customers in our state.
