The Currituck Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the Chamber Export Partnership to assist exporters with the processing of export documents, including Certificates of Origin. We are helping local area exporters throughout Northeastern North Carolina, (Currituck, Camden, Elizabeth City and the Outer Banks and beyond) as well as Hampton Roads Virginia, including Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Hampton, and Newport News, save time and resources while limiting potential for document errors and providing document tracking and storage for international trade.
These documents include Certificates of Origin, Commercial Invoices, and Packing Lists, which are used to verify that goods originated in or were processed in a particular country. The documents are processed electronically through a technology called essCert, eliminating courier costs, the need for paper processing, and reducing turnaround time.
Members of the Currituck Chamber of Commerce can process export documents for $25/certificate. Non-members can process export documents for $75/certificate.
Visit ChamberExport.com to learn more, register your business with essCert, and begin processing your documents electronically for international trade.
A Certificate of Origin (CO) is a document which states the origin of goods being exported. Virtually every country in the world considers the origin of imported goods when determining what duty will be assessed on the goods or, in some cases, whether the goods may be legally imported at all.
Exporters. Certificates of Origin may be needed to comply with Letters of Credit, import Customs requirements or a buyer’s request.
Completing your Certificate of Origin online through your local Chamber of Commerce helps eliminate the likelihood of errors and reduces the cost. Also, key information is stored, allowing for repeat Certificates to be created without the need for ongoing repetitive form filling.
